Wale Hosts Rap Battle on WWE’s ‘Smackdown Live’
After years of being a successful rapper, Wale's decided to take his talents to the ring and become a professional wrestler. Ok, not really, but the noted WWE fan—who once claimed he wanted to intern for the network—did host a tag-team rap battle between The New Day and The Usos on WWE's Smackdown Live. See Wale handling his hosting duties like a pro in the video below.
In the video, Wale, who's a couple of months removed from dropping his Shine album, can be seen offering up instructions to the two sets of wrestlers about how to engage in a rap battle, telling them to make sure their bars are "rated PG."
For the most part, everyone delivering battle bars came up sounding a bit stilted in their delivery, though The Usos did deliver a fairly stunning line directed at The New Day's Xavier Woods, who popped up in a risque picture with fellow WWE wrestler Paige: “Big E, let’s just keep it PG, you know what’s good/Just don’t get all rated-R like your boy Xavier Woods.”
Appropriately enough, the rap battle very nearly ended up becoming an epic brawl, with Wale appearing to be the only force preventing that from happening. Maybe he's got a future in the business.
Check out the whole battle below.
