Chance The Rapper and Dwyane Wade Produce New Basketball Documentary ‘Shot in the Dark’
Two of some of Chicago's most famed superstars are linking up for a good cause.
According to Chi-Town's WGN-9, Chance The Rapper and the Miami Heat's own Dwyane Wade have produced a new basketball documentary called Shot in the Dark. The film will be the second entry into Fox Sports Film Documentary series, Magnify, which chronicles stories at the intersection of sports and culture.
Shot in the Dark follows the journey of Chicago's Orr Academy High School basketball team as they fight against injustice and the more destructive elements of the community surrounding them. In the trailer for the film, we hear students speaking about the perils of the Chi, and at one point, we hear a gunshot as the coach is being interviewed.
The new film will be played at the Black History Month Film Festival for SocialWorks. SocialWorks is a charity Chano put together to empower the youth of the Windy City.
Other films in the festival, which kicked off at Chicago's 210 W 87th Street on Fri., Feb. 2, include The Wiz, Malcolm X, Black Panther and Ali. Shot in the Dark premiered yesterday (Feb. 12) at the same spot, and Fox will air the film on Sat., Feb. 24.
