In school, you may have had to read his most famous poem, “The Raven."

Even if you have not read any of Poe's works, you are most likely familiar with his eerie aesthetic.

That aesthetic is coming to Grand Rapids in a rather interesting way for adults to experience.

The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy is coming to Grand Rapids. The website states that it is,

"a chilling cocktail experience in Grand Rapids that brings four of his stories off the page and onto the stage as told through the Poe Historians while pairing them with four classic cocktails."

Become a time traveler and step back in time to immerse yourself in the dark and rather mysterious world of Edgar Allan Poe.

Who doesn't love a good speakeasy vibe?

From June 13th through June 16th, the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy will be at the Sweet House Foundation at 254 Fulton Street East, Grand Rapids 49503.

For $48 per person, you can experience 90 minutes of a deep dive into Poe's history with cocktails mixed by the speakeasy's lead mixologist.

  • Pale Blue Eye - a light blue cocktail made with blueberry vodka, fresh lemon juice, rose syrup and topped with La Croix.
  • Cocktail of Red Death - A bright vibrant cocktail made with 100-proof vodka, cherry herring, benedictine liquor, lime juice, pineapple juice, and bitters.
  • Edgar's Twisted Brandy Milk Punch - Equal parts Kentucky Bourbon meets with French Brandy and is mixed with vanilla cream, milk syrup, and half and half. Topped with star anise.
  • The Nevermore - A black and gold cocktail fueled by orange peach blossom vodka, lime juice, and secret spices.
