Summer isn't over yet. It just keeps getting hotter and hotter. July 23 every year is actually called "Hot Enough For Ya Day". We seriously have a day asking us if we are hot enough. In my house the answer is "YES!!!"

Some of us may not have air conditioning or maybe you just want to save some money on the bill while still staying cool. Here are a few little tricks you can use that should help you achieve that goal.

Keep Your Windows Closed

This might seem like the opposite of what you want to do, but if you keep your windows closed and covered with blinds or drapes, it might keep your home cooler.  If the air inside your home is cooler than the outside, wait until it cools down at night to open up those windows.

Install Window Film

Normally this is something that people will install window insulation film in the winter to trap in the heat, but it works both ways.  You can order the window film online or pick it up in most big box stores.  The film will help insulate your home and keep the cool air in and the warm air out.

Shut and Insulate Your Doors

Just like the previous tip, this is normally something people do in the winter, but insulating your doors can also help keep cool air in and warm air out.  You can buy weather stripping almost anywhere.  Also, closing doors throughout your home can help keep cool air trapped in rooms and cool down your home.

Use Fans The Right Way

A fan blowing directly on you might help cool you down, but it's doing nothing for your home.  Find the coolest spot in your home and set up a fan to blow that air into the warmer areas of your home.  And if you want to get really creative, you can set up a bowl of ice in front of the fan to act as an old timey air conditioner.

Manage The Humidity

You always hear that "dry heat" is better than it being humid, so you need to make sure that the moisture in your home is regulated.  Picking up a dehumidifier won't help cool down your home, but it will make the heat more tolerable by removing that sticky humidity that just makes you feel gross.
